Book Review…. Living in the NOW

Wake Up…Live the Life You Love: Living in the Now
For those of us with a burning ambition to “succeed” sometime in the future that is so strong we find it almost impossible to enjoy today this book is an absolute must read.
Written in Chicken Soup style with lots of different contributors from diverse backgrounds and life experiences this inspiring book offers so many reason’s to live for today and lots of advice on how to do it. But what I found truly inspiring was it’s focus on living in the now in order to succeed in the future. Apparently we can have both and I for one certainly need help in that area. Here’s just a few snippets to give you the idea….
So how do high achievers “do” life differently? The reality is they plan out their future, then live purposefully in the now. C.A. Reynolds
Your success today is hiding in your greatest challenges. Step up to them, take charge and learn from them. You will find your dreams handed to you on a silver platter, wrapped in the finest silk and made with the purest gold. Dare to dream. Victor Whitmore
You can read more reviews and purchase Living in the Now at fishpond.com.au if you’re in Aus or of course at amazon.com (see link in sidebar).
I found it a very inspirational read and I can’t wait to get started. Maybe tomorrow. Just kidding!

Daily To-Do Chalkboard Fridge Thingie….
Today is our first kids sport free weekend for the winter (gosh it’s great to be able to say that guilt free) and so I’ve had time this morning to do a few things that have been on my list for quite a while.
I purchased this Peel & Stick Chalkboard Set a few months ago with the idea of sticking them on the front of my fidge as a Daily To-Do-List come inspiration board for the four of us. They were really easy to apply and were just $20.00 for 8 sheets.
Looks great I think….

I purchased them from Homecare Direct who leave a catalogue at my mother-in-laws. They don’t have on-line ordering but if you’re interested you could go to their website for a distributer near you (within Australia or New Zealand) or just google Peel & Stick Chalkboard for an on-line supplier.
Ok, blog post done, I can cross that off my to-do-list.
Have a great weekend.

Kseniya’s amazing Sand Animation…. watch in awe!
Some things just have to be seen to be believed….
Kseniya Simonova is a sand animator from Ukraine. She entered Ukraine’s Got Talent last year and won first place with this incredible depiction of life during the USSR’s war against the Third Reich in WWII. The audience were in tears.
I am in awe. Unbelievable!

How to become the most popular mum in town.
Easy, yummy …. DONUT MUFFINS …. to bake at home.
My boys and I looove donuts. Not the horrible packaged excuse for donuts you get from Woollies but you know the delicious soft warm just made ones I buy way too many of each time I go near a donut shop.
So I was very excited when Cathy from my very fave foodie blog Noble Pig posted these Donut Muffins. I baked a batch that day and to my suprise, they tasted just like the real thing and soooo easy to make. I was very popular when the boys got home and have been hounded for them almost every day since.
I’m not posting the recipe as I do think you should visit Cathy at Noble Pig where you’ll find the Donut Muffin recipe as well as lots of other ideas for your everyday meals aand baking pleasure all beautifully presented with lots of lovely photographs to keep us inspired in the kitchen. Well worth a look mums.

Feeding my font fetish….
At the risk of exposing a slightly wierd aspect of myself I must tell you I have a thing about type faces. I love them. Well, not all of them. Some I wouldn’t give the time of day to while others I find totally irresistible. Anyway don’t want to get too wierd but do want to share with you this quirky site I found today via Jessica at How About Orange where you enter the office of an apparent descendent of Freud himself who asks 4 probing and indepth questions to reveal the type face that best suits your personality. I’m not normally into this sort of hoo-hah but obviously due to my font fetish I found it very cool and was very excited when given my final diagnosis….
Archer Hairline is a font I hadn’t heard of before but as soon as I saw it I new it was my font and with ”outbreaks of emotion and little dots of elegance” who could argue.
How cool is that? I know, it’s wierd.
Fun though…. http://www.pentagram.com/what-type-are-you/ enter the password “character”.

Remember the Croquembouche (french for Crocknbush)
For those of us who drooled all the way through last years Master Chef series you will remember the Croquembouche. Not something us mere cooking mortals would ever even attempt to attempt but when I found this Martha Stewart mini version I couldn’t help but think maybe, just maybe I could give it a go.
You will find recipe, simple instructions and even a demonstration video here http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/marthas-famous-croquembouche

Be sure to have a look around the Martha Stewart website while you’re there too. It’s a great place to find lots of great ideas and inspiration.
And you can email me photos of your Crocknbush to phillipa@everydaywoman.com.au
