ECOCHO…. We Search, They Grow Trees.
I’m so thrilled to have found this and be able to pass it on.
Ecocho is an Australian company based in Sydney who’ve come up with a unique but simple idea to help us all fight climate change. Basically they’ve created a search engine (like Google) which we can all use to search for stuff on the internet.
Now for the good part, for every 1000 searches made Ecocho will plant 2 trees which they claim offsets a ton of greenhouse gases. Furthermore, they are able to “guarantee that the trees stay put for 100 years as the NSW government enforces this time regulation for all participating land owners”. I won’t go into too much detail but it’s all possible due to advertising revenue and carbon credits from the Global Carbon Exchange. Go to http://www.ecocho.com/whats-ecocho.php if you want more info.
Apparently they have already planted 7550 trees which is very cool considering it’s come from simply making a slight change to something we do everyday anyway. There’s even a map showing you where the trees were planted, various locations in NSW being Phase 1.
So let’s all give it a go. If you click on Ecocho you’ll go directly to their search engine and can easily make it your homepage or at least save it to favourites. I certainly have.
