Kids, chores and the whole allowance thing.
Gosh it’s hard work trying to get my boys to help out around the house. It really is much easier just to do it myself sometimes. But of course that’s not a great idea either and so I’m forever trying different ways to encourage them to pull their weight. The following system is working well for us (at the moment anyway).

Just read a great post from one of my fave sites. Buttoned Up is “dedicated to helping you get organised” and is packed full of tips and hints and inspiration for everyday women. Today they reminded me that guilt is a very common and normal emotion for mothers, especially working mothers… “Mother guilt will always exist whether we put it on ourselves or not. Our goal isn’t to eradicate it but to manage it better”.

Every family has certain rules about what is accepted when it comes to the spoken word especially where our kids are concerned. There are the obvious ones like no swearing, no calling each other names and no yelling at the goldfish (my son thinks they’re deaf because they won’t do as they’re told). But, my boys set a rule for me too recently….
